A Dramatization of the Debate Between James Baldwin and William F. Buckley, Jr.

All Of It - A podcast by WNYC

Categories:

In 1965, novelist James Baldwin and conservative thinker William F. Buckley Jr. debated this topic at Cambridge University: "The American Dream is at the expense of the American Negro." The resulting discussion was an inflection point in the fight for racial justice in America. That debate has been dramatized for the stage in the new production, "Baldwin and Buckley at Cambridge," running at The Public Theater. We're joined by Greig Sargeant, who conceived of the show and stars as James Baldwin, and director John Collins, to discuss. "Baldwin and Buckley at Cambridge" runs at The Public through October 23.
