Los Angeles Times books editor, Boris Kachka, joins us to discuss his new book, Becoming a Film Producer. In the book, Kachka, a longtime writer and editor at New York Magazine, offers an insider's look at the production side of the film industry. Throughout, he follows award-winning producers in their work, including Fred Berger and Michael London of La La Land and Sideways fame, respectively. Changephobia is the second solo album from Rostam, former member of Vampire Weekend and a producer who's worked with Frank Ocean, Maggie Rogers, Clairo, Solange, and Haim, on their standout 2020 album, Women in Music Pt. III. Rostam joins us for a Listening Party. A new book recounts the history of African Europeans through stories of individuals who helped shape the continent, a history that goes back centuries. Olivette Otele, professor of history and memory of enslavement at the University of Bristol and vice president of the Royal Historical Society in the UK, joins us to discuss her book, African Europeans: An Untold History.
