Only by error do we learn. And by observation. Error and observation. Observe more! Now I can only ask for forgiveness. How we feel about something is often determined by the story we tell ourselves about it. The story people tell us about themselves tells us little about who they are, and much about who they want us to believe they are. The ability to delay gratification is a predictor of success in life. I leave the last bite of something tasty to make future-me love current-me. Delayed gratification at the extreme is no gratification. If you can't be happy with a coffee, then you can't be happy with a yacht. The first rule of winning the game is to stop moving the goalposts Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler. I would rather have questions that can't be answered than answers that can't be questioned. My mind is made up of an elephant and a rider. Only by doing things the elephant dislikes will I know if the rider is in control. I end every hot shower with 1 minute of cold water. The elephant never wants to do it, the rider always does. Discipline is the act of proving to yourself that you can trust yourself. Discipline is freedom. Discipline must be practiced, in small and big ways. Self esteem is a mountain made of layers of paint. Not everything has to be so serious. When you bring the fun, the world appreciates it. Have you ever thought about how scary the ocean would be if fish could scream?
