Categories:
Our next guest on the DOSE Hacking Happiness podcast is the hugely inspiring, Mo Gawdat – the former Chief Business Officer for Google X, who struggled with depression after his son Ali sadly died.Following this tragedy and after 12 years of research, Mo proposed an algorithm for happiness based on an understanding of how the brain takes in and processes joy and sadness. His mission One Billion Happy is to help one billion people become happier as a tribute to his son. This year, Mo launched a podcast called Slo Mo, believing that slowing down is the only way we can move forward which feels like a relevant message for 2020. We couldn’t think of a better guest to help mark mental health awareness day. In this podcast we talk about the role of dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins in relation to our happiness, if/how we can recover from a terrible tragedy and if there is ever a “reason” for the event, his opinion on if it's possible to overcome depression and the disturbing truths of exercise addiction. As ever we are so thankful to all our listeners for tuning in each week. To help us to keep going we would love it if you could rate, review and subscribe – also please share our newsletter to your friends and family or anyone who you think needs a hit of happiness in their inbox.
