Why Do You Make The Sign of the Cross?

In Your Presence - A podcast by Eric Nicolai

A meditation preached by Fr. Eric Nicolai, June 2, 2023 in Ernescliff College, Toronto. The account of Jesus cleansing the temple. Mark 11, 11-26: So they reached Jerusalem and he went into the Temple and began driving out those who were selling and buying there; he upset the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those who were selling pigeons. Nor would he allow anyone to carry anything through the Temple. And he taught them and said, ‘Does not scripture say: My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples? But you have turned it into a robbers’ den.’ He was in the temple, and he is in us, as we are temples of the Holy Spirit. Which is why we make the sign of the cross over our body, in honour of the Blessed Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit but in the form of the cross.
