Hello and welcome back to Jo’s Art History Podcast. Today I’m joined by artist Phil Barton to discuss the groundbreaking artist Gustave Metzger. A pioneer of protest and political art activism, Metzger developed the concept of Auto-Destructive Art and the Art Strike. He went on to forge a career which saw retrospectives held at TATE and The Serpentine Gallery. Metzger is an artist I had not come across and found endlessly fascinating as my conversation with Phil went on. It’s an episode not to be missed. Thank you so much to Phil for being such a brilliant guest.
