One effective way to disrupt anxious thoughts is to intentionally focus our attention elsewhere. This practice leads you through becoming aware of anxious thoughts and refocusing attention on a positive memory or an imagined safe place. Engaging in a practice like this can, of course, disrupt worried thoughts, as well as make it easier for our brain to become aware of and enjoy positive experiences.
