Episode 17: Jared Van Ek

National Fire Radio Podcast Platform - A podcast by Jeremy Donch

Labor Day we kicked off with an impromptu early morning interview with Jared Van Ek. Jared's story is a truly unique one. Volunteering for over 20 years locally in New Jersey, at 42 years old he wanted to continue to pursue that passion and moved south to test with career departments. Within 6 months he was hired, and his family joined him shortly after. This is a theme we hear all the time up north, but rarely see put to action. "If you want to get hired, you have to move south," or out of this area in general. The competition in the North East is intense, while the actual demand from career departments is limited. Jared's story is one of family, success, and pursuing ones passion. Thanks for listening! Check us out on Facebook and Instagram for more!
