143. The Art of Firemanship - Brian Bastinelli

National Fire Radio Podcast Platform - A podcast by Jeremy Donch

Battalion Chief Brian Bastinelli is proud to be Harrisburg firefighter. The Harrisburg, PA Bureau of Fire is a fire town; a place where firefighters are allowed to do their job and they do it well. The expectation of their firefighters is clearly defined and they know their roles based upon a firm foundation. From the bottom up and the top down, Harrisburg firefighters push one another to be their best so that the citizens are well protected. Brian believes in this foundation and letting his people work. He captures many of their jobs on video, an invaluable tool that helps better their response, their work and each other. Watching a first hand account of the fire ground and command presence is like watching game film. Athletes use film to better themselves and to learn more about the opponent. So why wouldn't we?? Using this video also allows for paying it forward in training and promoting the betterment of the job. Brian's YouTube channel offers training slides backed by real world responses and incidents. Paying it forward and giving back... more so now than ever for Brian. He has had tremendous physical and mental traumas over a short period of time and as he puts it, he was "Course corrected by the universe". A powerful insight based on personal tragedy. Sharing his story and experiences is a great tool for others as well as a healing mechanism for himself. -- Brian Bastinelli can be found on all social media platforms.
